Carmen Joy Imes
Dr. Carmen Imes is the Associate Professor of Old Testament at Biola University in La Mirada, California. She is a prolific and creative scholarly writer, having written everything from a beautifully illustrated version of the Psalms in Hebrew, to an illustrated Exodus in Hebrew. She has written on praying the Psalms in Hebrew, and among her latest books are two we will talk about more today … Bearing God’s Name and Being God’s Image … both reflections on themes found in Genesis. Dr. Imes earned a PhD in Biblical Theology from Wheaton College, an MA in Biblical Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a BA in Bible and Theology from Multnomah University. She and her husband, Daniel, served as missionaries with SIM for 15 years. Today we talk with her about what it means to be the image of God.
